Aircraft Finance Information

Aviation finance is similar in many ways to both an automobile loan and a home mortgage. What makes aircraft very unique is their generally higher value and their mobility.  Finding a lender who can finance your aircraft can sometimes be difficult.  Many times your local banks or credit unions don't offer financing on aircraft purchases.  It's more common that a loan is received from a specialty firm who deals in these matters.

Where do I find a lender?

We tend to just suggest that you search on the internet and find a company who will suit your needs.  Depending on what you are looking for there are many good companies you can find.

What are some questions I should consider?

  • Does your lender have references from past customers?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • Is there a pre-payment penalty on your loan?
  • Are there certain tax benefits for certain types of finance options?
  • What are the costs I have to pay at closing?
  • Will the transaction be an aircraft escrow by a third party?
  • Are there better options from other companies who specialize in my type of loan or aircraft?

You should always ask other industry persons about any lender that you're not familiar with.  The above is just a short list to consider.  Like any important decision we encourage you to be very well informed, knowledge is something you surely want on your side in a matter as large as this.
