Why Buy Aircraft Title Insurance?
Powell elects to send our customers to Aircraft Title Insurance Agency. They have been in business for a very long time, and they write for First American, which is one of only two companies who issue Title Insurance on Aircraft, and they have been doing it substantially longer than the other company. With a proven track record we feel it is the best way to go. On their website you can find a list of ways an owner can lose their aircraft and ways a lender can lose their aircraft.
What about just getting a Legal Opinion or Title Search?
Legal Opinions do not offer anything near what protection is given with and Aircraft Title Insurance policy. Like an Aircraft Title Search, the company performing it can only stand behind their work, but can't make an assurances to you on the completeness of the FAA records, the legality of all the signatures or other things of this nature. The only way to be fully protected is to have Title Insurance.
